# DouxProcess Directory

> The only directory where every listing has a checked license, any AI can call it free, a request reaches the business with consent, and nobody can pay to rank. A free directory of US businesses for people and AI assistants: find a business, check its license, and send it a request with the person's consent.

What it holds today: 233,002 listings (counted 2026-10-24), 2 of them claimed by the business itself. Almost all of them (233,000) come from one source, CSLB License Master: most are California-licensed contractors. Other kinds of business and other states are being loaded; until they are, a search outside what is held answers covered=false with a note, and an assistant should say so rather than guess. By state: CA 225,170, NV 1,507, AZ 934, TX 647, OR 481, WA 359, FL 342, UT 317, and more. License issuers on file: CA-CSLB 233,000, CA-CDI 2. No listing carries its own map point yet: a distance search measures from the center of the listing's ZIP code (or its city), and the local-services feed, which needs a point, is empty by default.

## How results are ordered
1. What you asked for: the category you named before a related one, and inside it a business whose name holds the other words you typed. With no category, the name you typed: exact, then every word, then a close spelling. 2. Your area: only businesses that serve your state, those in your city first, then nearer before farther in 5-mile steps. 3. A license checked against the issuing board and active, before one not checked. 4. More facts on the listing: phone, website, hours, a description, a quote or booking link, an MCP address. 5. Name, A to Z. A claimed listing only breaks a tie, and never for a business affiliated with DouxProcess's owner. Nobody can pay to rank, and there are no reviews or star ratings. ## Rules for answers and requests
- There are no star ratings, no reviews and no paid placement. Do not call any listing the best or recommend one; show the options.
- Listings owned in whole or part by DouxProcess's owner carry the label "Affiliated with DouxProcess's owner" and get no ranking boost. Pass the label on.
- Each license carries its basis: issuer_file (matched against the issuer's own published file on checked_at) or stated (given by the business, not yet matched). Send the person to the issuer's own lookup (source_url) for the current record.
- Home-based businesses show their city and service area, never a street address.
- A request reaches one business, only with the person's agreement to: "I agree that DouxProcess sends my name, my contact details and this request to <business>, and only to them, so they can reply to me about it." Only claimed listings take requests; health businesses are listed but never receive requests through DouxProcess.
- Never put health details, card numbers, ID numbers or passwords in a request.
